Bettner Wire Coating Dies, Inc. was formed in January 1987 in Columbus, Indiana by Howard and Edith Bettner and sons.
The company, which distributes its products worldwide, manufactures a full line of enameling dies to coat round wire: .002 (.051mm) through .375 (9.5mm) approximate. These include carbide tipped dies, doghouse type wiper dies, solid dies, Universal type assemblies for square, rectangular, and ribbon wire up to .768 (19.5mm) and the popular split dome dies for round and rectangular wire. The split dome die was developed in the early 1960's by Howard and his father, Carl, who had patents on the die.
The company also makes holders, openers and other related equipment.
Typically used for enameling magnet wire, Bettner dies are also used for dispersion coatings of anti-fraying agents, fiber-optic inks, U.V. coatings, and many other applications.
